Who is Real People?

Real People is a credit only microfinance operating in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Do I need to open an account to access a loan from Real People?

No, Real People is a non-deposit taking lender and does not require an applicant to hold a banking account with us.

How can I pay my loan?

You can pay your loan using any of the below methods of payment

Method 1: Direct Debit

Direct debits are convenient as you do not have to visit our branches to make a payment every month.

  • You will be provided with the direct debit order forms at any of our branches.
  • With the help of our customer service officers, fill in the form and append your signature when done.
  • Direct debits enable us to deduct agreed installment amounts from your bank account on the agreed pay dates.
  • Ensure that the agreed installment amount is available in your bank account on the agreed pay date.

Method 2: Paying Via Bank Deposit

To pay your loan via bank:

  1. Deposit the money to any of the following banks:

Indicate your name and contract number on the deposit slip and present the slip to any of our branch.

You will be issued with a Real People receipt thereafter.

Method 3: Paying Via M-Pesa

To pay your loan via M-PESA:

  1. Go to Safaricom M-PESA menu on your phone.
  2. Select Paybill and click OK
  3. Input 506200 as the Paybill number and click OK
  4. Input your contract number as the account name and click OK
  5. Input amount and click OK.
  6. Input your M-Pesa pin number and click OK

What is a USSD Code?

  1. This is a short code service through which our clients can access our services by dialing *471# on their mobile phones.

How does one get access to this facility?

You can access this facility by following the below easy steps:

  • Fill in a simple application form from any of our country wide branches.
  • The application form will be sent to our Call Centre
  • A Call Centre Agent will call you and verify the details
  • If details are correct; proceed to register of the number
  • USSD Services will now be available by dialing *471#

What are the benefits of registering for the short code service?

The benefits include:

  • For a new client; you can track your loan application status
  • For existing customers:
    • You can track all payments you have made to service the loan
    • You can view your mini-statement without having to visit any of our Branches.
    • You can view and keep track of your outstanding loan balance
    • You can access the various channels through which you can present your complaints, ideas, suggestions and compliments

What is a drawdown?

This is the ability of an active client to access funds from us without having to go through the loan application process.

How can I draw down an amount from my phone?

To draw down an amount:

  • Dial *471# on your phone
  • Select ‘Draw Down’ option.
  • Enter amount to draw down
  • Select a payment option (how you would like the amount to be paid to you).
  • Click ok and wait for a confirmation message.

How can I check my loan balance?

You can either visit your nearest Real People branch, send us a query through our inquiry form on our website and we will send you your loan balance or;

  • Dial *471# on your phone
  • Select Balances
  • You will receive a response indicating your balance, contract number, installment amount and the next installment date

What is a facility review?

A facility review is a process whereby we assess the maximum amount of funds that you can afford as per the performance of your business. The facility limit can increase, decrease or remain as it is.

After how long is a facility review done?

This is undertaken every 12 months from the anniversary date of previous review/first disbursement.

What is RealGhala?

RealGhala is an online platform through which all our loan facilities are captured, processed and approved.

At Real People, we believe that technology will enable us to provide our customer with an enriching customer experience with our customers in your journey with us. We have the capacity to visit our customers in their business locations and begin the loan facility application process.

As a loan facility applicant, RealGhala will enable you to experience:

  • Faster loan processing: From an estimated TAT (Turn Around Time) of two weeks; your facility can be approved within six hours
  • Paperless loan application: There will be no need for the applicant to provide physical copies of required documentation as the documents are scanned on the spot.
  • You have the power to track your facility loan application process: receive notifications at every stage of your loan applications and during loan collection process.
  • We present you with transparency in the loan application process and monitoring: Use of the USSD facility to access your mini-statements, inquire on your outstanding loan balance among other advantages.
  • Flexible drawdown application process: Use USSD facility to initiate drawdowns.
